Prickly Poppy

(2009.JUN.15)
Commonly (and erroneously) referred to as “thistle”; this treacherous desert beauty blooms in late spring, and may continue producing blossoms into late summer, given sufficient water. They are abundant – and large – this year, due to our extraordinarily wet weather. I have seen some blooms wider than saucers.
