Two In A Million
Oh! Of course, I don’t know the exact statistics. I don’t believe anyone does. However …
It must have been about 45 years ago, that my mother showed me a white Indian Paintbrush. I remember quite vividly; not so much the flower, as the excitement in her tone, as she explained that white paintbrushes are more rare than four-leaf clovers.
Every summer, I look, and at times I have wondered whether I had actually seen them …. until now!
I fairly leaped out of my little truck when I saw this one clump of white among all the pinks, reds, and oranges! Naturally, I looked around for more. Covered acres and acres of wild country, and didn’t see any more ….. until I started back down the mountain. About a quarter mile from the first bunch, I found another.
I’m pretty sure it was my lucky day—much more exciting to me than a dumb ol’ clover! I like to think Mom saw them, too.
