Red Tail Hawk
I heard them coming from pretty far off. Two crows, haggling back and forth as they soared up from below me on the mesa. Caught a glimpse of them, just out of the corner of my eye. Just a couple of rowdy ravens. I didn’t pay attention …. until they got within rock-throwing distance above me, and I realized one of them was a hawk!
I got off about five shots before he buzzed down among the pinons.
A passable shot; though personally, I think it screams for a more interesting background. I see a composite in the making.
At any rate, I was just thrilled to catch him, on my last day in New Mexico. This is a very good sign!
