Mount 2
The handsome young wrangler rode in from the desert, this still, hot morning, like a gunslinger in some old western novel. Tied his horse to the hitching post and headed for the Cherry Creek Barrel Saloon.
So impressed by the authenticity of his gear and demeanor, I asked if I might take his photograph?
“When I am finished here,” he frowned, as if compelled to consent against his own wishes.
I waited patiently while he ordered a grape soda and tossed it back like a man who had just rode miles across the high desert.
Finally, he returned to his waiting horse, scowled at me and prepared to continue on his way. Not your usual friendly, grinning cowboy, this one never cracked a smile and answered my few questions with terse single-word sentences. Clearly, my presence was a great imposition, so I contented myself with trying to capture a few quick frames.
His style of mount was unique.
