Sundown On Western Heritage

According to legend, three US Calvary soldiers were ambushed by a Shoshone raiding party, and were buried here alongside one Pony Express rider who met a similar fate, a few years before them.

The US army disavows any knowledge of these men, yet their bodies were removed from the site, and re-interred at Fort Douglas, Utah.

The gravesites and a plaque are all that remain of Fort Pearce.
