Heroes' Reward

Known locally as the Pony Express Graves, old Fort Pearce was, according to legend, the burial site of one Pony Express rider (1861), and later, three US Calvary soldiers that had been ambushed by Shoshone warriors (1864).

Although the US military disclaims any record of the men being there, some years ago their bodies were exhumed and re-buried at the Fort Douglas (UT) cemetery.

Three fenced graves with illegible wooden markers are all that remain of Fort Pierce. Egan Canyon, eastern Nevada
